Food Chain:
* The extinction of Swift foxes would have a negative impact on the ecosystem because once they have been eliminated from the ecosystem all the species that had once preyed on them for food will no longer have that certain food source.
* Their extinction would also have an effect on the animals they prey on. Since their major predator has been removed from the food chain their population would increase dramatically.
* Once a species is removed from the food web it causes a ripple effect. Whatever previously preyed on it will have less and less food which will cause some of that species to die of starvation.
Economy:
* The extinction of the Swift Fox can possibly lead to the extinction of other animals on the food chain. This would impact the economy negatively because some countries like Madagascar, Costa Rica, and Brazil are increasingly based on ecotourism. Countries like these make a lot of money from tourism every year. With the extinction of just one rare species, many jobs can be lost.
Humans:
* The extinction of this one species alone will not affect humans greatly, however if we keep allowing more and more species to die off because of our current lifestyles it will come back to haunt us.
* Every time a species goes extinct it affects the genetic diversity of the ecosystems. Over time the extinction may cause damage to the ecosystem and lead to diverse and annoying effects such as less fertile farming ground and desertification.
* Every animal is part of our ecosystem and each serves its own purpose. When we lose an animal to extinction we are losing a part of our own ecosystem and eventually this will result in our own extinction.
